These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Halal Scanner iOS app (“Halal Scanner”, “the app”), published by Obzena LLC, 30 N Gould St #45213, Sheridan, WY 82801, USA (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using the app you agree to these Terms and to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Apple Standard EULA”). If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Halal Scanner uses artificial intelligence to read product labels and to point out ingredients that may matter to you. It is not a halal certification authority, it does not certify any product as halal, and its results are not a religious ruling (fatwa). AI can misread a label or miss information, ingredients and recipes change, and a label may not show how an ingredient was sourced or processed. Always check for a recognized halal certification mark on the package, contact the manufacturer when in doubt, and consult a qualified scholar for religious questions. Halal Scanner is not medical, allergy or dietary advice.
Halal Scanner lets you photograph a product label and receive an informational result with one of three outcomes: “Halal mark seen” (a halal certification symbol appears on the photographed package), “Check needed” (the label is unclear, incomplete, or contains doubtful (mashbooh) ingredients) or “Haram ingredient found” (the label lists an ingredient that is generally considered not permissible under the standard you selected). “Halal mark seen” only means a mark was visible in your photo; it does not mean we have verified the mark or the product. You can set your own standard (for example your school of thought and your stance on seafood, alcohol traces and doubtful ingredients), and you can ask follow-up questions about a result.
Using Halal Scanner requires an active Halal Scanner Premium auto-renewable subscription. There is no free tier and no free trial. The following options are offered:

To protect the service, fair-use limits may apply to the number of scans or messages in a period. They are set well above normal personal use.
Your license to use the app is governed by the Apple Standard EULA; these Terms add to it. If they conflict, the Apple Standard EULA controls to the extent of the conflict. You acknowledge that these Terms are between you and Obzena LLC only, not Apple; that Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, maintenance, support, warranties or any claims relating to it; and that Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

You keep all rights to the photos and text you submit. You give us a limited license to process them, including through our service providers described in the Privacy Policy, only to provide and secure the service. You confirm that you have the right to submit them.
The app, its design, text, graphics and software belong to Obzena LLC or its licensors. Product names, brands and certification marks that appear in your photos or results belong to their respective owners; their appearance does not imply any affiliation with or endorsement by them.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the app and all results are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, religious compliance and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that a product is halal, that a result is correct or complete, or that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free. Any decision to buy or consume a product is yours alone.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Obzena LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from reliance on a result. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of them may not apply to you; nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.
You may stop using the app at any time and delete your data in Settings → Delete account. We may suspend or end access if you breach these Terms or misuse the service. Sections that by their nature should survive (for example disclaimers and limitation of liability) survive termination.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, except where the law of your country of residence gives you mandatory consumer protections. We may update these Terms; the current version is always on this page with the date at the top, and continued use after an update means you accept it.
